Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) is used as a framework for helping teachers understanding language not only structure and functions but also how language is used contextually. Since the changing curricula, advancing technology, and the impact of globalization, the use of SFL in education continuously develop, so this study aims to find out the implementation and its implication of SFL in Indonesian academics. To achieve the objective of study, it employed systematic literature review using Cooper’s (2015) framework. Through several stages in selecting data, there were 55 articles from the field of education and teaching. They were published in January 2020 to February 202 and collected from four online database: SINTA, Semantic Scholar, ScienceDirect, and SCOPUS. The study found that teachers in Indonesia implemented SFL in many ways which are categorized into six: classroom practice, curriculum design, professional development, multimodal literacy, language development across discipline, and cultural linguistics diversity. This study also highlighted that SFL has affected significantly in Indonesian academics. SFL contributes to improve the language knowledge in various social context, critical thinking, and communication skills. Teachers implemented SFL principles to encourage effective and inclusive teaching method and promotes students’ academic success.
