The Most Recent Updated Author Guidelines for "Ulul Albab: Jurnal Studi dan Penelitian Hukum Islam" Effective from the Publication Year 2025.

General Rules

  1. Articles submitted for consideration must be prepared using the MS-Word program, formatted on A4 paper (with margins set to 2.5 cm on the top, bottom, left, and right). The manuscript should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words, single-spaced, and utilise the Palatino Linotype 12 pt font.
  2. Submissions in alternative formats, such as LaTeX or PDF files, will not be considered.
  3. Submissions must be free from plagiarism and should have a maximum similarity index of 20%. (Please attach the result of the similarity index check in the supplementary files section).
  4. Manuscripts must never have been published or be under consideration for publication in another journal.
  5. Articles must be submitted via the following link: jurnal.unissula.ac.id/index.php/ua/index.
  6. All tables and graphs must be accompanied by appropriate citations and numbering.
  7. Footnotes and bibliography must adhere to the JUA writing guidelines.
  8. The English language used in the manuscript must be of high quality and grammatically correct.

The Structure and Systematics of Articles

Articles published in JUA focus on issues related to Islamic law and contemporary matters concerning the development of science and technology. The essential elements that must be included in the articles are: 1) title, 2) author's name, institution name, country, and email address, 3) abstract and keywords, 4) introduction, 5) methods, 6) results and discussion, 7) conclusions, 8) acknowledgements, and 9) references.

Writing Style

Papers published in JUA adhere to the following writing style:

  1. Title: The title of the article should be specific and effective, comprising a maximum of 12-15 words in English.
  2. Author's Name: The author's name should be presented without any academic or professional titles.
  3. Author's Email: This should be the official or professional email address of the author.
  4. Abstract: The abstract encapsulates the essence of the paper, written in one paragraph in both Indonesian and English, and should not exceed 250-300 words.
  5. Keywords: The article must include 3 to 5 keywords that accurately reflect the concepts discussed.
  6. Introduction: This section provides the background or context of the research, a theoretical review, related issues, and hypotheses. The introduction should comprise 15-20% of the article.
  7. Methods: This section details the research design and subjects, data collection methods, research procedures, and technical analysis.
  8. Results and Discussion: This section includes the analysis of recent data, testing of hypotheses, responses to research questions, and findings. The discussion should involve interpretation of results, comparisons with existing research and theories, and the implications of the study's findings.
  9. Conclusion: This section presents the research conclusions and recommendations based on the findings, articulated in concise paragraphs with operational advice.
  10. References: This section provides a list of literature cited in the article, comprising 80% primary and current literature (from journal articles and research) and 20% textual citations (limited to the last 10 years).
  11. References: The references section lists all books, journal articles, and papers, whether printed or online, cited in the manuscript, arranged alphabetically in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (Full Note).   12. Acknowledgements: A brief note expressing gratitude to individuals or institutions that assisted the author during the research and writing process, whether through financial support or by providing feedback during the composition and revision stages. For detailed guidelines on acknowledgements, please refer to the provided template.

Footnote Style

The footnote system employed in JUA adheres to the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (Full note) and utilises the reference management tool Mendeley.

Referencing

References in JUA are organised alphabetically according to the last name of the cited author. The format for compiling the bibliography conforms to the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (Full note) and employs reference management tools, specifically Mendeley.

For research articles, a minimum of ten references is required, while literature reviews necessitate a minimum of twenty-five references. Each bibliographic reference must be cited within the body of the text. The bibliography should include: - Primary references (journals, proceedings) constituting at least 80% of all references - Current references (published within the last five years) making up at least 80% of all references.

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
