AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors wishing to submit a manuscript to Insight on Educational Mathematics are required to read and comply with the following guidelines carefully. Any manuscript that does not meet the author guidelines, focus, and scope, is written in a different format will be immediately rejected without further review

A. Submission Requirements

Before submitting, authors must ensure that:

  1. The manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration for publication in any other journal or conference proceedings.
  2. All authors have read and approved the final version and agree to its submission to this journal.
  3. Authors must disclose any competing financial and/or non-financial interests related to the work.
  4. The manuscript must be written in English. Manuscripts with poor English writing will be rejected.
  5. A proofreading certificate, a similarity check result, and AI content detector must be attached as supplementary files during the submission process.
  6. Manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal System (OJS) at https://jurnal.unissula.ac.id/index.php/index/user.

B. Manuscript Preparation

  1. General Format
    • Manuscripts must be prepared using the official Insight on Educational Mathematics Template (MS Word .docx).
    • Manuscript length: 5000 to 8000 words (excluding references and appendices).
    • Font: Calibri 12 pt; line spacing 1.15.
    • Paper size: A4.
    • Margins: top 2.5 cm, right 2.0 cm, bottom 2.0 cm, left 3.0 cm.
    • Mathematical equations must be typed using Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType (not as images). Equations should be numbered consecutively.
    • All figures and tables must be embedded in the text, with captions and source clearly stated.
    • References must follow APA 7th Edition, preferably managed with Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNotes.

  1. Manuscript Structure

         Manuscripts must follow the IMRaD structure as described below

    1. Title : Written in Title Case. Maximum 15 words. Must clearly and specifically reflect the content. Avoid abbreviations in the title
    2. Author(s) and Affiliation: Full names without academic titles. Complete institutional affiliation including department, institution, city, country, and the corresponding author's email address
    3. Abstract: Written in English only. Maximum 250 words. Must cover: background/context, objective, methods, key results, and conclusion. No citations, abbreviations, or undefined terms.
    4. Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords, separated by semicolons (;). Must reflect the main concepts; avoid repeating words already in the title.
    5. Introduction: Presents research background, identification of the problem/gap in existing literature, state of the art of recent relevant research, and the clear objective of the study. Avoid a detailed literature review as the primary content; use it to justify the research gap.
    6. Methods: Describes research design, participants/subjects, data collection instruments, procedures, and data analysis techniques in sufficient detail to allow replication. Ethical approvals, where applicable, must be stated.
    7. Results: Presents findings in a logical sequence, supported by tables, figures, and/or graphs. Each table and figure must be numbered and titled. Do not repeat data in both table and figure.
    8. Discussion: Interprets results in relation to existing literature and research questions. Discusses significance, theoretical/practical implications, and limitations. Avoid merely restating results already presented.
    9. Conclusion: Concisely addresses the research objectives. Future recommendations and directions may be included.
    10. Acknowledgements: Optional. Acknowledge institutional support, or individuals who contributed but are not listed as authors.
    11. Declarations : All manuscripts must include a statement detailing ethical approval (including the committee’s name and approval number) and confirming that all participants gave informed consent to participate and consent for publication. Authors are required to clearly specify individual author contributions and disclose any competing interests. A funding statement listing all sources of financial support, including grant numbers, must also be provided.
    12. References: A minimum of 25 references is recommended. At least 80% should be from primary peer reviewed sources published within the last 10 years. APA 7th Edition format is required.

  1. Figures, Tables, and Equations

    • Tables must be created using a word processor's table function (not as images). Table titles are placed above the table.
    • Figure captions are placed below the figure. Minimum resolution: 300 DPI. Accepted formats: TIFF, JPEG, or PNG.
    • Mathematical equations must be typed with Equation Editor or MathType, numbered sequentially in parentheses aligned to the right margin. E.g., (1), (2), (3).
    • All tables, figures, and equations must be cited within the text before they appear.

  1. Similarity and AI Plagiarism Policy All submitted manuscripts are screened using Similarity and AI Plagiarism checker before and after the peer review process. The maximum acceptable similarity and AI Plagiarism index is 20% (excluding references and quotations). Authors must attach their similarity check results at the time of submission. Manuscripts exceeding the threshold will be returned for revision or rejected. The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts at any stage if plagiarism is detected.

  1. Peer Review Process All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain strictly confidential throughout. Manuscripts first undergo an initial editorial check (1-2 weeks) for scope, quality, and format compliance; those passing proceed to a minimum of two expert reviewers. The editorial team then makes one of the following decisions: Accept; Minor Revision; Major Revision; or Reject.

  1. Copyright and Licensing Upon acceptance, the copyright of the article is transferred to Insight on Educational Mathematics. This journal is published as open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. Authors retain the right to share and distribute the final published version with proper attribution to this journal.
