The Role of Work Environment on Improving Employee Well-Being and Work-Life Balance

Abstract


Abstract. A company needs to create quality and high-performance employees in order to face the challenges of competitive business and understanding the importance of the work environment for employee welfare becomes deeper. The success of a company in developing its business is influenced by several main factors, one of which is improving employee welfare and the importance of work-life balance which is an inevitable aspect in the company's HR management strategy. This research is explanatory research that aims to analyze the influence of the work environment on employee well-being and work-life balance and the influence of work-life balance on employee well-being. The data used in this study were obtained from the results of an online questionnaire (google form) with a 7-likert scale for employees at PLN UIK Tanjung Jati B with a sample of 69 respondents. The data analysis technique for this study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) as an alternative method to Structural Equational Modeling (SEM) by evaluating the outer model and inner model and testing the hypothesis. The results of the analysis show that the work environment has a positive and significant effect on Employee well-being and Work-life balance and Work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on Employee well-being. Improving work-life balance can be done through a comfortable, safe and conducive work environment so that it can also improve overall well-being. And employee well-being can be improved, one of which is by developing competencies, training and improving employee quality and productivity.
