The Role of Altruism and Affective Commitment on Employee Performance Mediated by Job Satisfaction in PLN Balikpapan Employees
Abstract
This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of altruism on job satisfaction among PLN Balikpapan employees, (2) the effect of affective commitment on job satisfaction among PLN Balikpapan employees, (3) the effect of altruism on employee performance among PLN Balikpapan employees, (4) the effect of affective commitment on employee performance among PLN Balikpapan employees, and (5) the effect of job satisfaction on employee performance among PLN Balikpapan employees.This study is explanatory research. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 100 PLN Balikpapan employees. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires. Data analysis used the SEM-PLS (Structural Equation Model with Partial Least Squares) program.The results of the study indicate that: (1) altruism has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, (2) affective commitment has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, (3) altruism has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, (4) affective commitment has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, (5) job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, (6) affective commitment influences employee performance which is mediated by job satisfaction, and (7) altruism influences employee performance which is mediated by job satisfaction.
