PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EXPRESSIVE WRITING THERAPY TERHADAP PENINGKATAN REGULASI EMOSI

Abstract


Perilaku melukai diri didasari oleh ketidakmampuan individu untuk menghadapi emosi negatif dengan cara yang adaptif. Kesulitan dalam menemukan coping membuat individu mencari cara yang dirasa paling cepat untuk mengurangi peningkatan emosi negatif. Perilaku melukai diri dapat menurunkan emosi negatif dan mendatangkan perasaan lega, namun cara ini menimbulkan luka fisik pada individu dan besar kemungkinan perilaku tersebut akan diulang oleh individu ketika kembali mengalami peningkatan emosi negatif. Jika hal ini terjadi secara terus menerus maka akan menurunkan rasa takut akan kematian dan akan berdampak pada peningkatan resiko bunuh diri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian expressive writing therapy terhadap peningkatan regulasi emosi dewasa awal yang melakukan NSSI. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pretest-posttest, dengan jumlah subjek penelitian 5 orang. Sesi intervensi dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali pertemuan. DERS versi Bahasa Indonesia digunakan untuk mengukur regulasi emosi pada partisipan sebelum dan sesudah pemberian intervensi Expressive Writing Therapy (EWT). Data yang didapatkan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistika non-parametrik Wilcoxon Signed Rank. Hasil uji signifikansi menunjukkan p value= 0.042, dengan taraf kepercayaan α= 0.05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan regulasi emosi secara signifikan pada individu dewasa awal yang melakukan non suicidal self injury (NSSI) setelah diberikannya intervensi Expressive Writing Therapy (EWT). Individu menjadi lebih mampu untuk mencari alternatif perilaku lain dalam menghadapi peningkatan emosi negatif.
