The Indonesian Journal of Sustainability (IJS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including Authors, Editors, Reviewers, Journal Management, and the Publisher.

1. Duties of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  2. Preparing the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s aims, scope, and author guidelines.
  3. Presenting research data and findings accurately, honestly, and responsibly.
  4. Avoiding unethical publication practices, including plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and redundant publication.
  5. Properly citing all sources and references used in the manuscript.
  6. Disclosing any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of the research.
  7. Ensuring that all listed authors have made significant contributions and approved the final manuscript.
  8. Complying with ethical standards for research involving human participants or animals, where applicable.

2. Duties of the Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the overall editorial policy and scientific integrity of the journal, including:

  1. Establishing and overseeing editorial policies in accordance with the journal’s vision, mission, and scope.
  2. Leading and supervising the entire editorial process.
  3. Ensuring the scientific quality and ethical compliance of all published articles.
  4. Maintaining effective and professional communication among the editorial team.
  5. Making the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts based on editorial and peer-review evaluations.
  6. Ensuring the consistency, transparency, and sustainability of the journal’s publication process.

3. Duties of the Managing Editor

The Managing Editor is responsible for the operational and administrative management of the journal, including:

  1. Ensuring that the publication workflow runs properly from manuscript submission to publication.
  2. Managing and scheduling journal issues and volumes.
  3. Preparing and managing the journal accreditation process.
  4. Managing journal indexing and maintaining DOI registration.
  5. Updating and maintaining the editorial board and reviewer database to ensure quality and diversity.
  6. Managing administrative documents related to journal publication, including official appointment decrees.
  7. Coordinating with national and international editors and academic partners.

4. Duties of Section Editors

Section Editors are responsible for handling manuscripts within their areas of expertise, including:

  1. Selecting and managing manuscripts that align with the journal’s scope.
  2. Overseeing the peer-review process in a fair, objective, and timely manner.
  3. Assigning competent and independent reviewers for each manuscript.
  4. Communicating with reviewers and authors regarding manuscript evaluation and revisions.
  5. Supervising the editorial process, including editing and proofreading, until the manuscript is ready for publication.
  6. Maintaining confidentiality and editorial independence throughout the review process.

5. Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  1. Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  2. Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  3. Provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of the manuscript.
  4. Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  5. Declare any conflicts of interest and decline review when appropriate.

6. Duties of the Journal Manager

The Journal Manager is responsible for the technical and administrative management of the journal system, including:

  1. Managing and maintaining the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
  2. Managing user access rights in accordance with editorial policies.
  3. Providing technical support to editors, reviewers, and authors.
  4. Ensuring data security and system reliability.
  5. Managing journal website content and presentation as required for editorial activities.

7. Duties of the Assistant Editor

The Assistant Editor supports editorial and technical processes, including:

  1. Assisting in the dissemination of Call for Papers through official journal communication channels.
  2. Conducting plagiarism checks in accordance with journal policies.
  3. Assisting with manuscript formatting and layout preparation.
  4. Managing internal archives of publication documents.

8. Duties of the Publication Team

The Publication Team is responsible for journal promotion and dissemination, including:

  1. Designing journal covers and promotional materials for Call for Papers.
  2. Disseminating journal information through official social media, academic communities, and other relevant platforms.
  3. Supporting the visibility and accessibility of the journal at national and international levels.

9. Peer Review Process

  1. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening.
  2. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent reviewers.
  3. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ recommendations and editorial policies.

10. Plagiarism, Corrections, and Retractions

  1. All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools.
  2. The journal may issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern if ethical violations or significant errors are identified.
  3. Ethical issues are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
