Juridical Review of Reconstruction by Police Investigators with Certain Crime Parameters

Budi Santoso

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine and analyze the juridical policy of reconstruction efforts by police investigators regarding certain criminal offenses. In this writing the author uses a normative juridical method with research specifications in the form of descriptive analysis. In law enforcement efforts, the police is the leading agency that deals directly with law violators, therefore adequate capabilities and personnel are required. One of the abilities that a National Police investigator must have is carrying out police identification, police medicine, police laboratories and police psychology which are useful for uncovering a criminal case. This is very useful for collecting evidence for evidentiary purposes. In their activities to collect evidence, National Police investigators use identification techniques that do not conflict with the law and have become a habit within the police in uncovering a criminal incident, these techniques are regulated in the Field Manual and the Minimum Manual for the Criminal Investigation Process, namely the Decree of the Chief of Police No. Pol: Skep/1205/IX/2000 concerning Revision of the Set of Guidelines and Technical Guidelines for the Criminal Investigation Process, dated 11 September 2000. Generally, reconstruction is carried out for criminal acts that result in the loss of people's lives, such as in cases of murder or also in cases of serious abuse and this reconstruction is usually carried out at the crime scene or in other places if the crime scene is deemed unsafe or unfit for carrying out reconstruction.
