Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Kajian Ruang adopts internationally recognized principles of authorship and contributorship to ensure that authorship accurately reflects scholarly contributions and accountability for published work.

Criteria for Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;

  2. Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing it for important intellectual content;

  3. Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript to be published; and

  4. Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions related to the accuracy, validity, or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals listed as authors must meet all four criteria. Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors and may instead be acknowledged in the Acknowledgment section.

Author Responsibilities

All authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • the submitted manuscript represents original scholarly work;

  • all authors have made legitimate scholarly contributions;

  • all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript;

  • no qualified contributor has been excluded from authorship;

  • no individual has been included as an author without an appropriate scholarly contribution;

  • the manuscript does not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct; and

  • all relevant conflicts of interest and funding sources are properly disclosed.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes.

The corresponding author must ensure that all listed authors have approved the manuscript before submission, agree with the order of authorship, and consent to publication.

Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors according to the relative scholarly contribution of each author. Jurnal Kajian Ruang does not determine the order of authorship on behalf of the authors.

Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a clear explanation and written agreement from all authors, including any author being added or removed.

Changes in authorship are subject to editorial approval. Requests made after publication may require a formal correction in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

Authorship disputes that cannot be resolved among the authors may be referred to the relevant institution(s). The journal does not adjudicate authorship disputes.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models and chatbots, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility or accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of scholarly work.

If AI-assisted technologies are used in preparing a manuscript, authors remain fully responsible for the resulting content and should transparently disclose the use of such technologies where appropriate.

Acknowledgment of Contributors

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately. Such contributions may include technical assistance, language editing, administrative assistance, general supervision, or other forms of support that do not independently qualify for authorship.

Reference Standards

This authorship policy is based on the principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) concerning authorship and contributorship and is consistent with good publication practices promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
