Education and Screenings for Hypertension Prevention and Control
Abstract
The challenge in managing hypertension lies in the lack of patient awareness regarding preventive measures, adherence to blood pressure control, and symptom management. Community-based hypertension management aims to maintain and improve health by enhancing the active participation of the community in addressing this issue. Community service activities are conducted through health check-up programs and health education initiatives to control and prevent hypertension. These efforts are expected to empower individuals to manage health issues independently. Community empowerment follows several stages, including an Introduction to Regional Conditions, Self-Awareness Surveys, Deliberations, Participatory Planning, Activity Implementation, and Sustainable Development. The program's success is evaluated through pre- and post-test knowledge assessments. The results indicate an increase in participant knowledge, with the average test score rising from 83 before the intervention to 90 afterward. It is hoped that this initiative will continue to evolve and expand, fostering greater community awareness and adherence to hypertension prevention and management strategies, ultimately reducing the incidence and complications associated with this condition.
