The Effectiveness of Law Enforcement Against Human Trafficking in Involving Transnational Organized Crime Networks

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of law enforcement mechanisms against human trafficking involving transnational organized crime networks, highlighting the profound challenges posed by borderless syndicates operating in a globalized era. Employing a normative legal methodology, this study examines international instruments, such as the Palermo Protocol, alongside domestic legal frameworks to assess how effectively state authorities tackle sophisticated recruitment, trafficking routes, and financial exploitation. The findings reveal that conventional, localized law enforcement remains insufficient when confronted with complex criminal structures that exploit jurisdictional gaps and regulatory disparities across borders. Consequently, maximizing law enforcement efficacy requires a holistic framework that integrates robust international cooperation—such as Mutual Legal Assistance and modern extradition procedures—with aggressive asset recovery, specialized task force deployment, and proactive non-penal interventions targeting socio-economic root vulnerabilities. Ultimately, dismantling transnational human trafficking necessitates an interconnected global strategy that transitions from reactive prosecution to the systematic destruction of criminal financial networks and the comprehensive protection of victims' rights.
